Personal Information Protection Policy—Introduction
Stand & Deliver! is committed to protecting your privacy and developing technology that gives you the most powerful and safe online experience. This Personal Information Protection Policy (the “Policy”) applies to Stand & Deliver!’s web site (the “Site”) and governs data collection and usage.
This Policy is developed in compliance with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act, S.B.C. 2003, c. 63 (“PIPA”). PIPA, which came into effect on January 1, 2004, sets out the ground rules for how British Columbia businesses and not-for-profit organizations may collect, use and disclose personal information.
This Policy informs you of why and how Stand & Deliver! collects, uses and discloses your personal information, obtains your consent where required, and only handles your personal information in a manner that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances. Stand & Deliver!’s privacy compliance includes ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality, and security of your personal information and allowing you to request access to, and correction of, your personal information.
What is Personal Information?
Personal information is recorded information about an identifiable individual. Personal information includes such things as an individual’s name, address, birth date, e-mail address and telephone number. When Stand & Deliver! collects your personal information Stand & Deliver! must identify:
- The purpose for collecting the personal information;
- The legal authority for collecting it, and
- The contact information of Stand & Deliver!’s Privacy
Officer who can answer your questions about the collection of that information.
Collection of Your Personal Information
Stand & Deliver! collects personally identifiable information, such as your e-mail address, name, home or work address or telephone number.
There is also information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by Stand & Deliver!. This information can include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring web site addresses. This information is used by Stand & Deliver! for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the Site.
Stand & Deliver! encourages you to review the privacy statements of web sites you choose to link to from the Site so that you can understand how those web sites collect, use and share your information. When you click a link to visit another site, this Policy will not apply; however, you may be subject to the privacy policy of that new web site, if one exists. Stand & Deliver! is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external web sites.

By using the Site, you consent to the data practices described in this Policy.
Use of Your Personal Information
Personal information collected, used, disclosed and retained by Stand & Deliver! is done so under the authority of the PIPA.
Stand & Deliver! collects and uses your personal information to operate the Site and deliver the services you have requested. Stand & Deliver! also uses your personally identifiable information to inform you of other products or services available from Stand & Deliver! and its affiliates. Stand & Deliver! may also contact you via surveys to conduct research about your opinion of current services or of potential new services that may be offered.
Stand & Deliver! does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties. Stand & Deliver! may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of external business partners about a particular offering that may be of interest to you. In those cases, your unique personally identifiable information (e-mail, name, address, telephone number) is not transferred to the third party. In addition, Stand & Deliver! may share data with trusted partners to help Stand & Deliver! perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to Stand & Deliver!, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.
Stand & Deliver! keeps track of the web sites and pages Stand & Deliver!’s customers visit within the Site, in order to determine what Stand & Deliver! services are the most popular. This data may be used to deliver customized content and advertising within Stand & Deliver! to customers whose behaviour indicates that they are interested in a particular subject area.
Use of “Cookies”
The Site may use “cookies” to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by the web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.

For example, if you personalize a Stand & Deliver! page, or register with Stand & Deliver! site or services, a cookie helps Stand & Deliver! to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. When you return to the same Stand & Deliver! web site, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the Stand & Deliver! features that you customized.

If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the Stand & Deliver! website or services.
Limits on Collection, Use, and Disclosure
Stand & Deliver! will only collect, use and disclose personal information for the purposes stated above and in accordance with the PIPA. Stand & Deliver! does not use or disclose sensitive personal information, such as race, religion, or political affiliations, without your explicit consent.
Stand & Deliver! will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on Stand & Deliver! or the Site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Stand & Deliver!; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of Stand & Deliver!, or the public.
If Stand & Deliver! requires your personal information for any purposes other than those for which it was originally obtained, Stand & Deliver! will ask for your permission to do so.
Security of Personal Information
Stand & Deliver! is obligated to protect your personal information by making reasonable security arrangements against such risks as unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure or disposal. Security measures have been integrated into the design, implementation and day-to-day operating practices as part of Stand & Deliver!’s continuing commitment to the protection of personal information Stand & Deliver! holds. When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other web sites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.
Stand & Deliver! will continually review and update its security policies and controls as technology changes to ensure ongoing personal information security.
Retention of Information
The length of retention of information will vary in relation to the nature of the service. If Stand & Deliver! uses your personal information to make a decision that directly affects you, Stand & Deliver! must retain that information for at least one year so that you have a reasonable opportunity to obtain access to it. Information collected or created by Stand & Deliver! is maintained in accordance with PIPA requirements.
Stand & Deliver! will retain client personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the identified purposes or a legal or business purpose.
Ensuring Accuracy of Personal Information
Stand & Deliver! will make reasonable efforts to ensure that your personal information is accurate and complete. You may request correction to your personal information in order to ensure its accuracy and completeness. A request to correct personal information must be made in writing to the Privacy Officer and be provided with sufficient detail to identify the personal information and the correction being sought.
Accessing Personal Information
You can review any personal information collected about you by submitting a written information request to the Privacy Officer. Stand & Deliver! will make the requested information available within 30 business days, or provide written notice of an extension where additional time is required to fulfill the request.
A minimal fee may be charged for providing access to personal information. Where a fee may apply, Stand & Deliver! will inform you of the cost and request further direction from you on whether or not Stand & Deliver! should proceed with the request.
Questions and Complaints
The Privacy Officer or Esther Sarlo is responsible for ensuring Stand & Deliver!’s compliance with this Policy and Stand & Deliver!’s compliance with the PIPA.
Any questions, concerns or complaints regarding this Policy must be directed in writing to the Privacy Officer. If your complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction the PIPA provides a mechanism for independent review. To access this mechanism you may contact the Information and Privacy Commissioner of British Columbia.

Stand & Deliver! reserves the right to modify or supplement this Policy at any time.
